The Midland County Fair's Large Animal Auction was a resounding success, with 4-H members presenting their top livestock and local businesses stepping up to support the young participants.
The auction featured a variety of livestock, including cattle, lambs, and swine, with impressive sales made by the dedicated 4-H youth.
The Grand Champion, presented by Charlott Miller of Coleman 4-H, was sold to Smith & Associates CPA and Douglas Spencer, showcasing the high quality of livestock at the fair.
The Reserve Grand Champion, sold by Addison Fordos of Mid Michigan Livestock, found a buyer in Kathy Weaver. In the Midland County Special category, Grace Stern of Keepin' It Country saw her livestock purchased by Spherion Staffing, demonstrating the strong community support for these young farmers.
In the Champion divisions, Lexie Fordos of Mid Michigan Livestock sold her Division 1 Champion to EGL Currie Foundation and Gerace Construction, while Josie Balliet of Coleman 4-H's Division 4 Champion was purchased by Northern Logistics.
The auction also saw a range of other sales, with participants like Morgan Ludwig and Ian Ludwig of Kountry Kids, and Austin Currie of Northern Dreamers, making successful transactions with local businesses like Garber Chevrolet and Servinski Sod Service.
The lamb category was equally competitive, with the Grand Champion, presented by Aubrey Davenport of Mid Michigan Livestock, being sold to Garber Chevrolet Saginaw. Meanwhile, the Reserve Grand Champion, sold by Logan Dudley of Coleman 4-H, was purchased by C.W. Gordon Sales & Service.
The Champion and Reserve Champion of Division 2, sold by Morgan Dukarski and Rachel Rickard, found buyers in Coyne Oil and Propane and Rich Family Farm, respectively.
In the swine category, Bryce Rohn of Country Strong sold the Grand Champion to Boulder Clay Farm, while the Reserve Grand Champion, presented by Isaiah Biers of Geneva Livestock, was purchased by Pat's Gradall Service. Other notable sales included Champion Division 1, sold by Austin Coggins of Geneva Livestock to Enjoy Bakery, and Champion Division 2, sold by Cadence DeJongh of Coleman 4-H to Foster Oil Blue Flame.
The auction not only highlighted the hard work and dedication of the 4-H members but also reflected the strong community ties in Midland County.
Local businesses' involvement in the auction underscores their commitment to supporting the next generation of farmers and contributing to the agricultural community's ongoing success.
