The Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation (MDMSF) awarded $145,000 in scholarships to Michigan State University (MSU) students pursuing dairy-related studies for the 2024-25 academic year. This funding recognizes student achievements and promotes careers in the dairy industry.
The scholarships include named endowments, each with specific criteria honoring individuals who have contributed significantly to the dairy industry. Notable recipients include:
Glenn & Anne Lake Scholarship ($8,500): Adalee Thelen, senior in Animal Science.
Russel Erickson Scholarship ($6,000): Brianna Hill, senior in Animal Science.
Donald and Valera Murray Scholarship ($5,000): Lauren Ringewold, senior in Animal Science.
Additional scholarships, ranging from $3,000 to $5,000, were awarded to students across programs such as Veterinary Medicine, Agribusiness Management, and Ag Tech Dairy Management. These funds aim to support educational and professional growth in agriculture.
One standout recipient, Elizabeth Hyman, a junior in Animal Science, received a $15,000 Recruiting Scholarship, emphasizing her potential as a leader in the field.
MDMSF is the second-largest scholarship program within MSU’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Established in 1957, it operates through generous donations honoring individuals in the dairy industry. The endowment income continues to provide scholarships for deserving students dedicated to advancing the dairy sector.
This program highlights MSU’s commitment to fostering the next generation of agricultural professionals and ensuring the growth and sustainability of the dairy industry.
