Precision Planting has introduced DrySet Air, a new technology designed to enhance the performance of air seeders through advanced monitoring and control capabilities.
The system was unveiled during the Ag in Motion farm show in Saskatchewan and is aimed at helping growers improve operational efficiency while reducing issues commonly associated with air seeding equipment.
"Growers are always looking for ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs -- benefits air seeders deliver in spades," said Bryce Baker, North America Tactical Marketing, Precision Planting. "But even reduced fuel and labor costs can't make up for the lost time and yields when growers are dealt the downsides of air seeders: blockages, depth inconsistencies or uneven seed distribution. DrySet Air aims to tackle those problems."
DrySet Air provides tower-by-tower monitoring of product flow, application performance, and downforce. This information allows farmers to identify potential problems earlier and maintain consistent field operations.
The technology is designed to reduce the impact of blockages, uneven product distribution, and inconsistent planting depth. These improvements can help support more uniform crop establishments and stronger field performance.
A major benefit of the system is its ability to run different variable-rate prescriptions from multiple tanks on an air cart. This gives growers greater flexibility when applying seed and fertilizer according to field conditions such as soil type, nutrient levels, and moisture variation.
Additional features include tower-by-tower swath control and turn compensation, which help improve application accuracy throughout planting operations. The system's stainless-steel construction also helps protect components from corrosion and wear.
DrySet Air can be used with certain John Deere air carts, allowing farmers to upgrade existing equipment with enhanced technology and monitoring capabilities.
At the same event, Precision Planting and PTx Trimble displayed a range of other agricultural innovations, including targeted spraying equipment, planter technology, blockage monitoring solutions, autonomous tractor systems, and guidance tools.
