Michigan State University Extension is organizing the Vegetable and Field Crop Production Update on Feb. 18, 2025, at the Saginaw Valley Research and Education Center in Frankenmuth, MI. This free event will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes lunch.
Event Highlights
The event will bring together vegetable and field crop producers, offering expert insights from MSU researchers and Extension specialists. Key topics include robotic weed control, pest management strategies, pesticide safety, and endangered species regulations.
Key Presentations
- Robotic Weed Control Innovations – Dan Brainard, PhD, will discuss advancements in automated weed removal technologies.
- Pesticide Safety and Respirator Use – Laurel Harduar Morano, PhD, will provide insights into selecting and using respirators correctly.
- Vegetable Disease Updates – Mary Hausbeck, PhD, will share updates on disease trends and management strategies.
- Drone Regulations for Pest Management – Michael Reinke will cover drone usage rules and their role in crop protection.
- Endangered Species Act & Bulletins Live! Two – Teresa Crook will explain the EPA system for geographically specific pesticide regulations.
Registration and Attendance
Attendance is limited to 150 participants, so early registration is encouraged. Restricted-use pesticide credits have been applied for and are pending approval.
