Six Honored with 2025 Michigan 4-H Agriculture Awards

By Andi Anderson

Six outstanding volunteers have been named 2025 recipients of the Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) 4-H Excellence in Agriculture Awards. These awards honor individuals who demonstrate excellence in youth education, leadership, and agricultural development through 4-H programs across Michigan.

The honorees are Brigitte Grobbel (Clinton County), Genevieve Hecht (Tuscola County), Michelle Holladay (Oceana County), Tyler Labadie and Garrett Thompson (Barry County), and Jennifer Laux (Saginaw County). Each will receive a $1,000 grant from the MFB 4-H Excellence in Agriculture Endowment to support a 4-H agricultural project or training program.

Brigitte Grobbel, a former 4-H member, leads livestock and dairy projects in St. Clair County. She coaches judging teams and educates youth in livestock evaluation and showmanship at statewide events.

Genevieve Hecht has volunteered in Tuscola County for nearly 20 years. As leader of the Granny’s Kids 4-H Club, she champions youth education and promotes inclusivity in livestock projects, especially for children with special needs.

Michelle Holladay leads Oceana County’s largest club, 4-Star 4-H. She supports access to agriculture by loaning animals for projects and mentoring youth ambassadors, while also helping raise funds for scholarships and events.

Tyler Labadie and Garrett Thompson continue their 4-H involvement by running the Clare County Fair Skillathon and helping youth across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula through clinics, workshops, and mentoring programs.

Jennifer Laux leads multiple 4-H groups in Saginaw County, providing hands-on training in showmanship, livestock care, and recordkeeping. She also connects youth with the wider community through educational outreach and launched a local “seed library.”

All awardees will also receive a personalized recognition memento, celebrating their dedication to building Michigan’s next generation of agricultural leaders.
