Bee Palooza 2025 Celebrates Pollinators

Bee Palooza 2025 Celebrates Pollinators

By Andi Anderson

Bee Palooza 2025 is buzzing back to East Lansing on Sunday, Aug. 24, offering families a chance to discover the world of pollinators through hands-on fun and educational activities.

Now in its 12th year, the event is hosted by Michigan State University’s Department of Entomology and takes place at the MSU Horticulture Gardens, 1066 Bogue Street, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, making it an engaging and accessible way to celebrate and learn about Michigan’s pollinators.

This year’s theme, “Bee Our Neighbor,” focuses on the essential role of pollinators—like bees that live in soil, wood, or social colonies—and their connection to people and the environment.

Attendees can visit interactive exhibits showcasing bee diversity and habitats, participate in workshops, and learn how to create pollinator-friendly gardens at home.

For younger visitors and the young at heart, face painting and a bee petting zoo offer a lighthearted way to overcome fears and get up close with gentle pollinators. There will also be pollinator-themed ice cream to enjoy during the festivities.

MSU entomologists and conservation experts will be on hand throughout the afternoon to answer questions and guide visitors through the event.

Parking is free in most MSU campus lots on weekends. Accessible parking is available nearby in Lots 54 and 46, providing easy entry to the garden grounds.

Bee Palooza is a fun and impactful way to connect with nature while learning how small actions can make a big difference for pollinators and biodiversity.
