Michigan State University (MSU) is hosting its Spring Fly-In event focused on spray drones. This educational gathering takes place on April 10th (rain date April 17th) at the MSU Clarksville Research Center.
The program caters to both current and aspiring drone pilots interested in applying their skills to precision agriculture. The day kicks off at 8 AM with registration, followed by presentations starting at 9 AM. A complimentary lunch is included.
Industry experts will share their knowledge. Mark Ledebuhr of Application Insight LLC will delve into the fundamentals of chemical application.
Mike Reinke from MSU Extension will provide updates on his spray drone research. Additionally, Tom Smith from MSU Extension will offer insights on aerial application considerations in pesticide labeling.
The afternoon session features a demonstration showcasing current practices for testing and verifying drone application coverage. Following this, certified drone pilots can participate in a hands-on session testing their own swath settings using new data collection technologies.
Important Note: Pilots interested in testing their drones must bring proof of relevant certifications, including a Part 107 license and a 44807 exemption if their drone weighs over 55 lbs.
Seating is limited for this informative event, so pre-registration is essential. The participation fee is $50 per person.
