Do you have the right eggs in your market basket? Optimizing your market mix is the theme for this year’s marketing sessions at Southwest Michigan Horticultural Days, Michiana’s premier regional fruit and vegetable growers conference held February 7 and 8 at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center in Benton Harbor. Join us for a day-long track on Thursday, February 8 to learn the ins and outs of market channel planning and analysis.
The morning program will feature an overview of direct and intermediated local food marketing channels, affectionately known as Local Marketing 101. This will be followed by a farmer panel that will discuss how each farm landed on their current market mix, why they sell through the channels they do, and how it’s going for them.
In the afternoon, we are excited to welcome Curtis Mahnken and Mariah Beverly, Extension Economists from the University of Minnesota Center for Farm Financial Management to talk about a new Market Channel Analysis tool to understand the performance of various market channels and help make decisions of where to sell your product.
