Managing White Mold in Soybeans: Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series

Managing White Mold in Soybeans: Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series

The Michigan State University Extension is hosting the Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series on June 22, featuring a presentation on managing white mold in soybeans by field crop pathologist Marty Chilvers. As farmers anticipate disease pressures for the 2023 growing season, this informative session will review the fundamentals of disease life cycles and best management practices for controlling key diseases.

Chilvers will delve into the life cycle of white mold in soybeans, exploring how management decisions such as variety selection, row spacing, planting rates, tillage, and irrigation timing impact disease development and severity. Attendees will also gain valuable insights into research-based information regarding fungicide selection, application timing, and sprayer operation for effective white mold management.

The Field Crops Virtual Breakfast series, running every Thursday from March 30 through September 21, offers a unique opportunity for farmers, agribusiness personnel, and anyone interested in agriculture to interact with MSU Extension specialists and educators. Participants can have their questions answered and earn credits, including restricted use pesticide (RUP) credits for Michigan pesticide applicators and continuing education units (CEUs) for Certified Crop Advisors (CCA).

To join the live Zoom sessions, simply sign up once to receive email notifications and weekly reminders. If unable to attend live, recordings will be available for later viewing, although only the live sessions are eligible for credits. The recordings will be accessible on the Field Crops Virtual Breakfast website and MSU Extension Field Crops Team social media platforms.

Don't miss this opportunity to stay informed and enhance your white mold management strategies. Follow the Michigan State University Extension on social media for updates and visit their website for more information.
