Consumers Energy, a prominent Michigan energy provider under CMS Energy, recently launched operations at the 201-MW Heartland Farms Wind Energy Centre. Developed by Invenergy LLC, this wind farm, nestled in Gratiot County with 72 turbines, marks a significant addition to Consumers Energy's wind energy portfolio.
Valued at USD 358 million (EUR 327m), the Heartland Farms Wind is set to power nearly 80,000 households, greatly enhancing Michigan's renewable energy landscape. Consumers Energy proudly asserts that their collective wind energy projects now have the capacity to meet the needs of around 330,000 households statewide.
David Hicks, Consumers Energy's vice president of clean energy development, emphasized the farm's crucial role in the company's Clean Energy Plan. With the imminent closure of the final coal plants next year, the Heartland Farms Wind emerges as a key player in advancing Michigan's transition towards cleaner and sustainable energy sources.
