MSU Launches 2026 Regenerative Agriculture Winter Webinar Series

By Andi Anderson

Michigan State University Extension and the MSU Center for Regenerative Agriculture have announced the 2026 Regenerative Agriculture Winter Webinar Series.

This free virtual program is designed to support farmers, landowners, conservation partners, and agricultural professionals interested in advancing regenerative practices across Michigan landscapes.

The six session webinar series will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in February from 6 to 7 p.m. Each session will focus on practical and innovative topics that help improve soil health, protect water quality, and build stronger and more resilient farm systems.

The program is designed to be accessible and useful for a wide range of agricultural operations.

The series will begin on February 10 with a session on grazing in cropping systems. This discussion will explore how integrating livestock into crop production can improve soil conditions and help reduce farm input costs.

On February 12, experts will discuss residue risks and rewards, helping participants understand how crop residue affects soil structure and seed environments.

On February 17, the focus will shift to cover crops in perennial systems, including orchards and vineyards. This session will highlight ways to boost biodiversity and support long term productivity.

The February 19 webinar will examine partnerships between lake associations and farmers, showing how collaboration can improve water quality and protect shared natural resources.

Strategic tillage will be the topic on February 24. This session will explore the balance between soil disturbance and soil health, addressing the gray areas of no-private practices. The final session on February 26 will cover growing native plant seeds.

Participants will learn how this practice can diversify farm income while supporting ecosystem services and wildlife habitat.

The webinar series is free to attend, but registration is required. Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on February 25. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with specialists, ask questions, and gain practical strategies that can be applied to their own operations.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to register early. For more information, participants can contact Christine Charles by email at charl122@msu.edu or by phone at 973-255-6097. This webinar series reflects MSU’s commitment to education, sustainability, and the future of regenerative agriculture in Michigan.
