Southwest Michigan crop and pest update event announced

Farmers and agricultural professionals in southwest Michigan can enhance their knowledge at the Crop and Pest Management Update event on February 5, 2025, in Dowagiac. Organized by Michigan State University Extension, the program offers critical updates on crop fertility, pest control, drainage strategies, and irrigation for the upcoming season.

The event will take place at the Dowagiac Conservation Club, located at 54551 M-51 North, Dowagiac, MI 49047, with registration costing $40 per person. The fee includes a light breakfast, lunch, and a copy of the updated MSU Extension bulletin E-434, “Weed Control Guide for Field Crops.”

Participants can earn three restricted use pesticide (RUP) credits (private, 1A) and 3.5 certified crop advisor (CCA) credits, pending approval.

Pre-registration is open until January 27, and attendees can register online or by contacting the St. Joseph County MSU Extension office at 269-467-5511.
