Michigan State University Extension (MSU Extension) is hosting the 2025 MI Ag Ideas to Grow With virtual conference, offering lifestyle farmers an opportunity to learn sustainable and effective farming practices. The event runs from February 24 to March 7, 2025, and features sessions tailored to small-scale farmers, focusing on livestock management and other key agricultural topics.
About the Conference
Designed for lifestyle farmers, this virtual event provides practical insights into managing livestock productively and sustainably. Expert speakers will cover various topics, including animal health, feeding strategies, breeding, and innovative technologies. Each session lasts 30 minutes, includes a live Q&A, and begins at 6 p.m.
Livestock-Focused Sessions
Sessions tailored to livestock management are scheduled during the last week of February and the first week of March. Highlights include:
February 24: Controlling Parasites in Sheep and Goats
February 25: Getting Started with Beekeeping in Michigan
February 26: Effective Fiber Inclusion in Beef Cattle Diets
February 27: Swine Parasite Management
March 3: Healthy Calves and Parturition Management
March 4: Poultry Production for Beginners
Participation Details
This two-week virtual event is free, but registration is required to access Zoom links for the sessions. Participants can join as many sessions as they like, and credits for restricted use pesticide (RUP) and certified crop adviser (CCA) certifications will be available for select topics.
