Kimberly Dodd has been recommended to serve as the new dean of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, effective Aug. 1. Dodd, a veterinarian and virologist with extensive expertise in emerging infectious diseases, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role.
As the current director of the MSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL), Dodd has overseen operations and secured additional funding for building new diagnostic capabilities. Her commitment to disease surveillance and outbreak response has positioned the VDL as a key player in animal health.
Dodd’s background includes serving as director of the USDA Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (FADDL), where she established training programs and collaborated on national priorities. Her passion for disease prevention and response extends to her work at Metabiota and the Centers for Disease Control.
In her new role, Dodd aims to empower students, staff, and faculty to innovate and advance the college’s mission of learning, discovery, healing, and protection. She is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where all members can thrive.
With Dodd at the helm, MSU's College of Veterinary Medicine is poised to lead in tackling global challenges and promoting the veterinary profession.
