Government Clears Maude Family Land Dispute

Government Clears Maude Family Land Dispute

By Jamie Martin

The Government has taken decisive action to defend American farmers by dropping criminal charges against the Maude family, small cattle and hog producers from South Dakota. The Maudes faced legal trouble over a disputed 50-acre section of federal land, an issue that began as a minor civil disagreement.

Secretary Brooke Rollins stated, “The Maudes are not criminals. They have worked their land since the early 1900’s and something that should have been a minor civil land dispute quickly turned into an overzealous criminal prosecution.” She emphasized the Administration’s commitment to standing with hardworking families.

The case involved fencing near Buffalo Gap National Grasslands. The Maudes agreed to a survey to resolve the issue but later faced criminal prosecution under the previous administration. Under President Trump's leadership, such regulatory overreach is being reversed.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi added, “This Department of Justice will spend our resources and efforts on prosecuting criminals, getting drugs off the streets, and identifying and dismantling the weaponization.”

The Maude family will visit Washington, D.C. on April 30 for a press conference to share updates on government reforms to protect farmers and ranchers.
