The Michigan State University (MSU) Extension is set to unveil a treasure trove of soybean research in Sanilac County on September 28th, 2023.
Hosted at the renowned MSU Soybean Variety Trial Plot, this field day promises attendees a deep dive into the world of soybeans.
The soybean plot in focus is nothing short of impressive. Boasting over 100 commercial varieties from multiple esteemed companies, attendees are in for an eye-opener.
MSU's very own promising lines are up for view as well. With bean maturity ranging from 1.1 to 3.1, the plot exhibits a myriad of varieties, including conventional, glyphosate resistant, Enlist E3, Extend Flex, and GT27/LL.
Attendees can anticipate enlightening talks from the industry's best. Mike Staton, a soybean educator at MSU Extension, will tackle the pressing issue of white mold in soybeans.
Randy Laurenz and Dechun Wang, the dynamic duo of MSU's soybean initiatives, will guide a plot walk-through, sharing their observations from the trial.
The plot's strategic location is a mere five miles north of Sandusky, Michigan. The meeting point is at the junction of Sandusky Road and Nicol Road. Attendees are advised to park along Nicol Road.
Rick Gerstenberger, the magnanimous host of the plot, deserves a special mention. His generosity extends beyond providing the land, as he has opened his doors to allow MSU Extension to host this significant field day.
Though walk-ins are welcome, attendees are encouraged to pre-register to ensure a smooth experience, especially concerning meal arrangements.
The Huron County MSU Extension office awaits your registration calls. For any queries, Jenna Falor and Phil Kaatz are just an email or call away.
This field day is a golden opportunity for ag enthusiasts, offering a blend of research revelations, expert insights, and networking, all under the warm sun of Sanilac County.
