Scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Okemos Conference Center in Okemos, Michigan, this summit serves as an educational platform for farmers and custom manure haulers.

The summit is seeking 20-minute in-person presentations for breakout sessions on various topics, including:

Manure application and compaction

Greenhouse gas emissions and climate resiliency in manure and animal agriculture

Public relations strategies for engaging with the public through social media

The value of manure, emphasizing cost savings, nutrient value, and soil health

Technology in manure management, covering best practices and emerging technologies

Manure management practices, including integration into crop planning and application management

Farm infrastructure for effective manure application and spill prevention

Workforce management practices for hiring, retention, and training

Instructions for submitting proposals are as follows:

Provide a brief summary (less than one page) outlining your proposed presentation, including the speaker’s contact information and presentation title.

Utilize Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations.

Submit final presentations and short speaker bios (2-3 sentences) two weeks before the summit.

Be prepared for your presentation to be recorded for educational purposes related to the Michigan Manure Hauler Certification Program.

Presenters from for-profit organizations are welcome to apply, but presentations must focus on educational content without sales pitches.

Limited travel support may be available based on individual circumstances.

Proposals should be sent to Charles Gould at gouldm@msu.edu by the end of the day on Friday, October 11.

The Michigan Manure Hauler Certification Program leadership team, comprising members from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Michigan Farm Bureau, and Michigan State University Extension, will review submissions.

This summit offers a valuable opportunity for agricultural professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills in manure management, contributing significantly to sustainable farming practices.
